Overview
The product certification process is an effective mechanism for assessing compliance with regulations and standards addressing safety, quality and other product characteristics.
Pre-market approval and certification is a legal requirement for manufacturers of many products, components and accessories seeking access to major markets worldwide. Beyond mandatory requirements, manufacturers also choose voluntary testing to differentiate their products and demonstrate their commitment to quality and safety. Certification assures suppliers, retailers, regulators and consumers that an independent organisation has reviewed the manufacturing process and determined that the product complies with specific standards for safety, quality, sustainability or performance.
Application & Requirements
The application submitted consists of:
After the application is received, our technical team analyses the data to plan the product review against the requirements stated in the standard.
Product File / Specification Review
Our techno-commercial team contacts you to guide the certification process and identify the right applicable standards, forwarding a questionnaire to prepare your quotation. After a contract/agreement is signed, the technical team selects and approves the Auditor/Technical Expert who reviews the details prior to the audit.
Compliance Audit
The auditors evaluate the conformity of the product/service being audited against the applicable standard.
Non-Conformance & Closure
Any gaps in the effectiveness of the implementation methods used for acceptance of the product/service — audited against the product/process-specific applicable standard — are raised as non-conformities. Any non-conformity is given a 60-day closure period; non-conformities are closed subject to closure of evidence and test results.
Release of Certificate
After evaluating the closure evidence, IAS releases the certificate. On receipt, the client can use the logo on the product as per the logo rules. Contact IAS today to learn more about the product certification procedure.
